CodeRED is an electronic emergency notification system that enables local public safety personnel to notify residents of emergencies in your area that may require action. Alerts come via telephone, text message, and email. It will also provide you with instructions on what actions you need to take to protect life and property. The system will notify you about police activity, lost children, wildfires, and other emergencies nearby. For more information or to register for CodeRED please visit https://www.douglas.co.us/board-county-commissioners/board-priorities/public-safety/codered-be-informed-and-receive-updates/
In the event of a disaster, such as a wildfire, if you were asked to evacuate your home, could you do so without assistance? If you have physical, developmental or intellectual disabilities, chronic conditions or injuries and other access and functional needs (AFN), emergencies present a real challenge. The Douglas County Access and Functional Needs Registry (AFN) is a database containing information about individuals in Douglas County with functional needs who may require assistance in the event of a disaster. The information may also be used to assist emergency personnel and volunteers in providing assistance. Participation in the AFN Registry is voluntary. Individuals having AFNs may also include individuals with disabilities, older adults, populations with limited English proficiency, limited access to transportation and/or limited access to financial resources to prepare for, respond to and recover from a disaster.
